MNLINK, Minnesota's interlibrary loan network, changed to a new system on April 30, 2024. Like other libraries in the state, we have limited users to 5 active requests and/or checkouts during this transition period.

  • Requests can be made through the MNLINK website (with library card & PIN), by Email, or by calling 507-328-2309
  • Expect requests to take at least 2-3 weeks to arrive
  • All items check out for 4 weeks
  • Renewals not allowed

Returning ILL Materials

During open hours, you may return ILL materials inside the building by handing them directly to staff at the main desk as you walk in.

During closed hours, please return ILL materials through the walk-up book return (the pull-open slots just to the right of the drive-up book return on the west side of the library building).

Using MNLINK

mnlink-logoUse the MNLINK website to request books, media or articles not owned by Rochester Public Library.

Tips for using MNLINK
  • Make sure items you request have been released for at least 6 months (libraries do not lend newer items). For newer items, use the recommend a purchase form instead.
  • If all copies of an item are checked out in the MNLINK system at the time of your request, the request will be canceled.
  • Only request items that the library does not own (even if our copy is checked out).
  • Book Club Requests: please complete the book club request form OR request individual copies through MNLINK  NOTE: if requesting through MNLINK website, please add "Book club copy" in the special instructions box.
  • Journal, magazine and newspaper articles will can be requested via MNLINK.  Use the webform in "Your Account > Title Not Found? Request items and articles here" and submit the citation details.
  • MNLINK requests will not appear on your RPL account until the materials are received at the library.
  • To check on the status of your ILL requests, log on to your MNLINK account.
